I would suggest having a list of chores that need to be done, and anyone can check them off. I also didn't want to push him away by overwhelming him with talks about commitment when he's already stressed. I do hope I'm able to make the necessary sacrifices to make my marriage work. To sum up, they're incapable of loving anyone but themselves and the thought of a marriage counselor freaks them out as this would mean confronting their ultimate excuse of "I'm too busy".
I am 27, LDS, and 5 days away from marrying my own amazing non-Mormon man. I know you got a zillion replies, and I have not read them. Because Utah mormons are waayyy different than mormons everywhere else. Like you I grew up with and taught the standard LDS beliefs about temple marriage, celestial kingdom, etc. It seems like a minor point, but I have noticed that every Mormon girl who disobeys the Mormon direction to avoid coffee has something majorly wrong with her. What's NOT to like about being the wife of a medical doctor.
